Who is Paleah?

Paleah is passionate about the discovery and sharing of knowledge. With a doctoral degree and over 15 years of practical experience in environmental-health, she holds a deep understanding of how the quality of our environments impacts the quality of our lives. She has expertise in air pollution, water contamination, and food safety.

She consults, writes, learns, and teaches.

Paleah holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Chemical Toxicology (2010), a B.Sc. in Bio-pharmaceutical Sciences (2005), and a CIHR postdoctoral fellowship in Gender, Work, and Health (2012). She recently completed the Global Journalism Fellowship at the University of Toronto (2021) to deepen her science communication skills.

As a settler on W̱SÁNEĆ and Lekwungen First Peoples' territories in Victoria, BC, and as someone with strong familial ties to the Inuit in the Canadian Arctic, she is forever striving to be both a good listener and a good story teller.

“I want to stand by the river in my finest dress. I want to sing, strong and hard, and stomp my feet with a hundred others so that the waters hum with our happiness.”
